Welcome
I come from Treaty two land, the home of the Chippewa and Swampy cree Nations. I would like to acknowledge that these peoples have like me created a life and home here. I thank them for letting me use their land for my home. I would like to thank them for their sacrifice.
I would also like to thank the people of the nêhiyawak (nay-hi-yuh-wuk, Cree), Anihšināpēk (uh-nish-i-naa-payk, Saulteaux), Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and Métis/Michif Nations. The Treaty 4 lands have provided me a place to learn and acknowledge what has happen in the past. They have given me much to reflect on and learn how to reconcile with them about the past wrongs we have made.
About Me
I grew up in small town Saskatchewan and lived there most of my life. I started my career in childcare early. I worked as a part time educator in Estevan throughout high school. From there I complete my Early Childhood Education Diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in 2020. I worked in childcare for another two years before I decided I wanted to pursue education. Now I am working towards my Elementary Education Degree at the University of Regina.
Educational Philosophy
I believe learning should be fun.
I believe we learn through play.
I believe we are always learning.
I believe we learn from the children.
I believe we learn something new each day.
I believe we are open to new experiences.
I believe that the people who are most different from us, help us learn the most.
Certifications
Early Childhood Education
I have my level three diploma in Early Childhood Education.
CPR Certification
I am trained in CPR-C First Aid as of September 25, 2023. I will continue to retrain as I need every couple years.
Experience
I worked in ECE for three and a half years at two different centres. During my time at the centre I would plan activities for infants to school-age children. Implement those planned activities with the children. I would document the activity to whatever platform the centre used. I would complete basic housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping and sanitizing toys. I would feed to children lunch and two snacks throughout the day. I would do diaper changes or potty training with the younger children. I would greet parents morning and night and have conversations with them about their child's day. As supervisor I would act as director when the director was away and take duties off their shoulders. I also had the opportunity to train many staff members for different rooms.
My Journey
I drew a feather for my representation of Truth and Reconciliation. It represents my promise to continue unlearning, learning and relearning. I will show the children i work with what reconciliation is truly about and always remember to do the work.
